Thank you for sharing that information. I had started to believe that this shooting was all a myth but thanks to you there was a record of it.
It did not happen the way a descendant claims (family tradition)as the man was not a cattle rancher but a horse trader and was not suspected of any crime that can be proven.
This information will greatly improve the real story of Jeff Hardin. I do know it was shortly after the killing that he had the gunfight with Snowden and was killed. The argument could have been over Jeff trying to obtain a false alibi saying he shot the man in self defense.
His headstone says 1901 for death so we now know it was after May, 1901 and could be Sept as family tradition reports.
Thanks again as this saves me a lot of research.
