Jim

I'm assuming your gggf was Andrew Jackson Knotts of Jasper County whose VA headstone denotes service in Company B, 5th Miss Infantry.

Pvt. A.J. Knotts is listed as a member of this company and regiment in the CW Soldiers & Sailors System and the Confederate Parole Records Index at the NPS's Vicksburg site.

Company B, (the) Jasper County Minute Men, was raised in Jasper County and one of the companies in the 5th. (Robinson's) Regiment Mississippi Infantry Minute Men (State Troops).

A history of the Minute Men is available at the following URL.

HTH, Mitchell
