Thanks. Horrible camp conditions are what I suspect, as his obit mentions being on the eve of a great battle[Shiloh]. I don't want to spend too much time on him as this is really going to amount to about a paragraph of text in my history of English's Battery. This is why I haven't ordered his CMSR. I have about one hurdred service records to get yet that directly relate to my research so thi one is superfluous. First off let me correct a mistake I made in this Lt. Wilkins was in Co. L not Co. D that is what get for posting before going to bed. Co. L was the Tom Weldon Rebels. I plan to hit the OR and maybe a good book on two on Shiloh to see if the general background info is there.
