Hello, Ron.
The Miss. 33rd you are referring to I believe is Hurst's-Drake's regiment, and they were engaged at New Hope Church. Hardcastle's 33rd Miss. was in existence only from mid-April 1862 to the end of November 1862, at which time they were re-designated the 45th Regiment Mississippi
Volunteer Infantry due to the duplication of numbers and being in "juniority" to Hurst's-Drake's 33rd Mississippi. Hardcastle's 3rd Miss. Battalion (aka 45th Miss.), Company D was the “Choctaw Rough and Readies” raised in Choctaw County, MS, and Company K was the “Charlton Rebels,” aka “Capt. Charlton’s Independent Company,” and was raised in Hinds County, MS.
I will make a note to watch for information pertaining to the 7th, 9th, 10th, 41st, 44th Miss. Inf. and the 9th Battn. Miss SS at Franklin or Nashville, and hope I can be of some assistance. I just received almost 1,500 pages of documents from an associate who has been assisting me, and at this time I do not have a clue what all he has sent me!
If you come across information about Hardcastle's Miss. 3rd Battalion / 45th Regiment, or members of Lowrey's Brigade, the 32nd Miss., the 5th Miss. or the 8th Miss., I would like to hear from you as well.
Regards.
