That's fascinating information and I may contact the author. I guess in looking at Forrest's forces prior to Brice's Crossroads it's impossible to determine how individual units were equipped? For instance, were certain units give preference, so that they were more fully equipped than other? Were the 3,300 men Forrest fielded at Brice's Crossroads fully armed with both longarms and pistols, generally, while other units had no horse equipment, no guns, nothing. I know Bell's Brigade was oversized and full of new recruits. Might they have been less well equipped than more veteran units like Lyon's, Rucker's and Johnson's Brigades? I wondered if it's possible, even with this detailed information to know the arms & equipment carried by Forrest's men at Brice's Crossroads?
