Alan, Thanks for the clarification, but I did not post to start a debate about Hood and Lee. The description of this battle and the role played by the men of the High Pressure Brigade and the other brigades involved is not diminished by whether Hood told Lee to attack. To me it does not matter one iota whether Hood ordered Lee to attack; he did; the men fought; and it was a disaster. Just thought I would remember their sacrifice. The men who gave their lives certainly didn't care who sent them to their grave.
