So you really think he was in Virginia as well as in the Tennessee campaign later? Could he, then, do you think at all, have been
at Malvern Hill? There's this other old family note about him that no one seems to have paid any particular attention to saying he was wounded at "Malvery Hill", which would have to be a
mis-copy or spelling, I guess, and that after he recovered from that he went on to lose his leg at Spring Hill. Perhaps he was doing
his imitation of John Bell Hood? I think people thought he might not have been able to be in both but what you're saying, then, is that it looks like he started out in the 13th and ended up in the 5th?
What sort of battle chronology do we come up with then? I wanted to write his story down as accurately as I possibly could because, well, I think it matters that such things be properly understood and noted down. You have been most kind to me concerning this and I am fairly bursting at the seams with appreciation and gratitude.
