The main road to Houston crossed back to the south side of the Yalabusha. Its true, they crossed the river twice, but this was the direct route east to Houston where Van Dorn could pick up the Ripley Road.
The three eyewitness accounts, one of them written only a week after the fact, place the column riding through Houston. I can accept that.
Yes, the next issue of Blue & Gray will be the article on Holly Springs.
