Doh! You're right ... teach me to rely on my memory. After I wrote that, I was thinking four regiments is not necessarily smallish. Three regiments composed largely of conscripts, however, is far from formidable. Gregg's brigade would have put up a real fight if their services had been required, but Vaughn's Brigade was mostly taking up space.

Again, this is from memory, but at the time Gregg's brigade did not include the 7th TX and instead included a LA unit did it not?
