Phoned my friend who has the JFB tin. He has extensive files on him, including a thin paperback book detailing the Lamar Rifles, and included in it is probably the 1899 group photo you mention (a dozen grizzled old vets on the steps of some building). The only thing he thinks he lacks is where JFB matriculated, and when he relocated from Ohio. Probably was a few years prior to the fracas, as he had time to get comfortable with his neighbors, enuf so that he supported the South instead of the invading force. Your offer is much appreciated.

I do copy work for this friend and others, and have gotten several images into books and magazines. Would you, or the descendant of JFB, like a crisp copy of the handsomely garbed warrior?
