WOW!! Talk about walking into the middle of the movie....

From what I was told by my grandfather (J.K. Kirk, Smith's boy), The "H" stood for Hamilton. Thus why my GGF was Smith Hamilton Kirk. I was also told that he ran off on the family at some time...someone mentioned that earlier. I found mention of a George Hamilton Kirk (abt 1860) being the Captain of a Mississippi river boat used prior to the Confederacy buying it and renaming it the CSS Pontchartrain ...go figure.

So does anyone have the family tree broken down? I'm pretty new to it but burning to find info. I never got a chance to get much info from my Grandpa before he died so now I'm starting pretty much by scratch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Scott
