The Deep South Genealogical Quarterly (Mobile Genealogical Society) recently published a list of Civil War soldiers from Jackson County, MS. My great-great-grandfather Samuel Davis was listed as a pvt., Co. A, 9th Miss. Cav., serving from 1861-1865. I never knew that he was in the Civil War. Can someone verify for me that this Pvt. Samuel Davis is, indeed, my g-g-grandfather from Americus (Jackson County), MS who lived from 1795-1868?
