I would be interested in learning if the names of Civil War soldiers from counties other than Jackson County were listed in the publication prepared by the Mobile Genealogical Society.
My great, great grandfather Samuel Herring enlisted in Perry County. He served with the 9th Miss. Cav., was wounded and in a hospital there in Mobile before his death. His remains were never returned, and the family has no record of his hospital stay, death, or burial.
We welcome any information that might shed light on this soldier's fate.
