The Mississippi in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Samuel Davis, 9th Miss. Cav.

Eloise, Samuel Herring is not listed in the Quarterly. The list contains only the soldiers buried in Jackson Co., MS.

Many Civil War soldiers were hospitalized in Ross Hospital in Mobile, though there were other hospitals in Mobile. Herring's military records may have some information regarding his hospitalization.

I, too, have no record of what happened to my g-g-uncle's remains after he died at Ross Hospital. But since Mobile County borders Clarke County, I assume relatives buried him in the James Cemetery at Choctaw Bluff with other family members.
