Yes, as was the 62nd NC.

So, from a mathmatical point of view, they may not have had enough un-captured men to register on the desertion scale.

My logic was that these were high numbered regiments, most likely including large numbers of conscripts. And, they were raised in western North Carolina where patriotism for the Confederacy was luke warm at best.

Regarding the 58th NC that you mentioned, the 60th NC became its sister unit in the Army of Tenn. Did they experience a similar desertion rate?
