Re: Gettysburg Cemetary
In Response To: Gettysburg Cemetary ()

The Confederates killed at Gettysburg were shoved in trenches, buried along the road or in common unmarked graves. In 1872 the Confederate dead at Gettysburg were dug up and brought to Richmond in boxes and reburied at Hollywood Cemetery. There is only a marker at Hollywood Cemetery which designates the area as being Confederates killed at Gettysburg - no names or regiments.

The unidentified remains of Brig. Gen. Richard Garnett may have been in one of those boxes. He was killed while leading his men at Pickett's Charge.
