Thanks George,

Do you have any information on the S. C. unit he volunteered in. I know that he was born in 1836 in the Blue Spring township, Robeson County, NC, so going to SC makes sense.

Your information about his "sentence remitted" is interesting. I lose track of him between July 1863 till when he turns up again in July 1864. His comments: "It is just exactly nobody's business where I have been or what I have been doing; but if folks must know I will tell them. I have been on detached duty, mostly at "Fort Ransom." Details of this kind are seldom allowed." Could he have been imprisoned for some infraction??

The info on his wounding and hospital is correct. He was charging with the 26th Reg. NCT when he was hit. He was under the care of Dr. Manson.

Are you a relative perhaps?? I hoping to make contacts with any descendants.

Thanks again, Barry Munson

The Zeb Vance letter is very helpful.
