You might find this interesting. When McSween was a private in the 35th, he had a bitter controversy with the Colonel, Matt Ransom. I have yet to learn what it was over. The result was that Ransom had him arrested, convicted before a court martial, and sentenced to 12 months hard labor in the penitentiary. He was released June 1, 1864.
