NC Uniforms Issued to WWII POWs

Anybody pick up on the story that some portion of these left over Confederate uniforms in North Carolina were issued to the Axis POWs incarcerated in camps in North Carolina circa 1943-1945? I came across that story when doing research for my regimental history in North Carolina. I will have to dig way deep in my notes to find the source again.
