The entire story of the events and people involved in the American Revolution are a testiment to determination, willingness to adjust and luck. Had any of the three been missing, we'd still be bowing and sipping hot tea at 4 pm. My 6x GGrandfather was at Valley Forge with Washington. He was not a young man but he wouldn't miss the chance to help free his Virginia.
The tactics used by the then "Rebel rabble" were well remembered by the Confederate sons and grandsons. I can't help but wonder if some of it may be because so many were descended from the Scots who were not fond of the English. They understood that the fighting could not always be 'by the book' to be effective. In watching The Patriot, it's not difficult to substitute the English burning the homes and in ones mind place Sherman. Yes, the North had it's battle places in the first war but the South had many of the same places in both. And people wonder why the Southern born are so adamant on memory retention of our history? It's in our bloodstained soil. That same soil that grows our food crops. Gets into our food and so it goes-----------
