I use a regular Epson photo-quality table top scanner to read the microfilm now. I have a film cutter and splicer to make it fit on the scanner. With Photoshop software I can blow it up and clean out the imperfections. I then save and put it to DVD or CD. It's slow but the quality is outstanding and a lot cheaper and smaller than a microfilm reader/copier. Recommended for people with a small budget and lots of time on their hands. It takes about two days to do one good sized reel.
