"Paperwork Reduction Act"

My aunt, The Major, said they tried this in WWII. A memo came out on legal size paper in triplicate that the officers needed to stop sending so many memo's. 2 sentences on that paper. That is our good ol federal braintrust at work. Sad ain't it?

One question. Is NARA not a depository for information that is held in trust for and supposed to be accessed by the people? What was once classified is now out in public. People at the genealogy society were saying you cannot take a bag in with paper and such now. You can use a laptop. I can understand security reasons, but come on, military records over 100 years old are not gonna cause a problem unless a Reb find a Yank in the tree and hollers in the hallowed library.
Wonder if the slave records are being upped in price?

It took a friend a year and a half to get a naturalization paper for an ancestor. This was after 15 phone calls, I don't know how many letters and a lot of frustration because she had the dates and number of the document.
