I would respectfully disagree with both you gentlemen.
If you're referring to Lincoln's assassination as "faring worse," well alright then. But you have to admit that it was only a momentary disadvantage.
If you look at the broader scope of history, Lincoln has (1) attained immortality, (2) gotten a very nice monument that draws people from around the world, (3) achieved location on monetary units, and (4) acquired a reputation that, despite its legendary inaccuracies, ain't hurting him too much.
Davis, on the other hand, is today a minor footnote in the national parade, and one whose visage appears on old bank notes, I suppose, as a curiosity to dwindling numbers of history buffs.
Perhaps Jeff Davis deserved better than that, but it seems to be an almost insurmountable task even to drum up the interest and funds to fix his house whenever it gets storm damaged. And even then, there's a lot of yankees who pony up the money and labor to get the job done.
Hope you'll forgive all that Northern meddling in your local affairs, such as Katrina relief and Beauvoir fixing, etc.
