Hijacking a thread

Folks, as a moderator I am going to make a suggestion. Unless Jim Martin ever tells me to enforce this as a rule I won't but I believe we can have a better board and everybody enjoy themselves more if we stop "Hijacking threads"

What does "Hijacking a thread" mean? Think of it like this. We are on a message board dedicated to automotive repair. John Doe post a thread asking for help on how to rebuild a Ford Pinto transmission. Things are going good until Jane Doe comes along and post in the same thread that she needs to know the firing order for Chevy Vega. Jane just "Hijacked" John's thread! She should have started a new thread. Perhaps in the future when we are changing the subjects of discusiion we should start new threads. It makes it easier for everybody to select what they may want or not want to read about. You may also find yourself getting a more positive response to your post.

As stated, unless Jim ever says we are going to enforce this I won't. Just consider it a way of trying to upgrade our board. Thanks for listening.
