A cat 4 would more than likely still be pushing 75+ mph winds. Of cource there are a bunch of factors to be considered. I heard Jackson had 75-90 mph wind, unverified report of cource.

Tree limbs etc. would be a danger to you home, they also would take out power lines. Depending on your location, the water and sewage pumps may be pumps may be electric driven. A good chance you will be without water a couple of days. Look at your house, are there trees next to the house, what if they should fall, where would they hit? The wind may not be strong enough to take down a tree but with the ground saturated it wouldn't take much. I lost four trees in the past due to that condition.

Look for gas prices to go up. Have plenty of gas on hand, top off all vehicles. You will use the extra anyway.

Make sure you have plastic sheeting and/or tarps handy, plenty of food and water, what the heck you gotta eat in good weather. Don’t forget the animals. Protect all valuable docs and pictures, keepsakes and ‘puters etc. If you lived down here, I would add ammo to the list!!!!

Call me gun-shy, but I have already started getting ready, it can turn at anytime.
