Re: Stonewall Jackson's Death
In Response To: Re: Stonewall Jackson's Death ()

Sally, Richard Garnett was a Brigidier General in charge of Jackson's old brigade, the 1st Brigade of the Valley District. He was under the command of General Jackson.

At the 1st Battle of Kernstown, the enemy was overwhelming and Garnett was low on ammo. He ordered his men to retreat, Jackson had him arrested for neglect of duty and he was to be court martialed. Later General Lee had him released and placed him in command of Pickett's brigade because Pickett was injured.

The people who say Jackson was assassinated claim that Jackson abused Garnett for personal reasons and the men knew and resented that.

Another theory is that pro-union forces were on the inside eliminating or trying to eliminate all the Generals. That is their explanation for the death of Jackson, Johnston and what they claim are numerous attempts on the life of Forrest.

Back to Garnett: He was killed at Gettysburg and his body not recovered. But these same people say there is strong evidence that Jackson's friends recovered his body and put it in an unmarked grave for revenge. They say all other officer's bodies were accounted for and it does not make sense that Garnett's body should not have been found.
