Perhaps others will have better luck. Neither the soldiers/sailor system or Vermont in the CW website identified a solder by that name.

There were 3 James Youngs from Vt in the former db, but none with middle initial N.

Suggest you contact Tom Ledoux, webmaster of the Vermont in the Civil War website, which you can google.

Another guy I've just come across photographed something like 600 Vermont soldiers recently at the USMI.
