Doyle my Friend,
I have never been able to figure out what States Rights were being denied any state. Even the right to own slaves was protected under the constitution. If the south had not attacked the North at Ft. Sumpter, Mr. Lincoln would not have any war powers authority. So it seems to me that the south gave him the authority that he used. In my opinion.
