Yes, the lack of support to protect probably THE most important Confederate city, because of its strategic location and economic worth, is one major blunder I cannot forgive the Confederate government for overlooking. If the Confederate plan for Southern defense was to protect major cities and points of transportation, why was this one so grossly overlooked?
