Re: Charges at Franklin and Gettysburg

There are accounts of D. H. Hill's men doing exactly that at the Battle of Malvern Hill. Many of the troops were trapped out on the field between the lines, under such fire, for hours.

At the Battle of Chancellorsville, Rodes' men charged 26 pieces of artillery, pausing to lay down under fire and regroup, before making a final push into the gun emplacements.
