Re: Abe Lincoln on "The Rifleman"

Pahoo-Ka-Ta-Wah (Pawnee for Wolf Who Stands in Water) was dark skinned, but back then we would have called it red rather than black. (Would not have known what anybody was talking about if they had said Native American - I would have figured that I qualified!!) X. Brands (or Jay X. Brands) was a character actor whose characters were almost always Indian, although he was not, being of German descent. He also usually never spoke. I remember Pahoo carried a double barreled shotgun under the blanket that he carried, and could always be counted on the get Yancy out of a pickle - which he would regularly get into. If a blast from the shotgun was uncalled for, he also carried something like a bowie knife in a scabbard over his shoulder which he could launch in the direction of the scoundrel with one whip-like motion. He was a good friend to have while out drinking and gambling!!
