Unionist and Unconditional Unionist

In check some information I ran into something regarding the make-up of the 38th Congress, 1st secession, March 1863 to March 1865, which lists the Delegates of the States of West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Missouri and Kentucky, with rare exception, as either (U) Unionist or (UU) Unconditional Unionist not as Democrat or Republican.

Now outside of the Obvious, Which I know, that these were border States and the new state of West Virginia. And that the border states of Kentucky and Missouri, had dual state Government. And that I know what a Unionist would probably be. I have a few questions.

1st what was the difference between a Unionist and an UNCONDITIONAL Unionist? Why were they not listed as according to a party? Weren't all Republicans "Unionist" or "Unconditional Unionist"?

2nd; How were these delegates selected? Were they appointed by the Unionist Governor of these States? If these delegates were not elected in open elections were they legitimate delegates under the Constitution?

There could be several more question but this is enough for right now for starters.
