Alan, I don't think the same comparison applies. Many intelligent men in those days were not privy to Roget's Thesaurus, nor had they any appreciable exposure to French, though they may have stidied Napolean's tactics. Today's CinC is a Harvard Graduate. He has had ample opportunity to familiarize himself with the units and areas of expertise of those over whom he holds sway. Would he have said "Marine Corpse"? Or is he so arrogant no one will correct or advise him? He made the same mistake three times. Does he read his teleprompter phonetically? As to his arrogance, did any of you see the picture of him with his feet up on his desk in the Oval Office, while several of his lackeys stood before him? Among the Muslims with whom he spent some of his early years, showing someone the soles of your feet, or shoes, is a grave insult.
