Maybe I am misreading this. And taking nothing away from the bravery of Corp. Smith. But what did he do that was any more than what every other color bearer did on both sides did? I do not see any specific mention of any extra ordinary action on the part of Corp. Smith. Was he even in front of his regiment encouraging them forward as many colorbearers did?
