Re: public schools
I happen to be one of those people who believes in public education.
Since I taught that for 40 years, it is easy to understand.
However, I have been in some public schools that were a disgrace, one of which I thought was so bad, I wanted
to write a complaint about to the state department of education, but I did not.
It comes down to the school district, the principal in charge of the school, the teachers themselves and the parents.
I won many a round with some little person and my objective was to teach the little darling to read.
Having worked in five decades, I saw many changes, some for the better and some not.
Public schools in the South are a work in progress just like most of us. For some it works and for some it does not.
Life goes on regardless and it is up to the individual to educate him or her self.
Some of the stuff that ticks me off the most are the high schools themselves, and the colleges which run
departments that are fully staffed by people from another part of the world who give the American born
kids the hardest time.
Someone may remember that once upon a time I stated my daughter was one of three in her whole
history class that new anything about the Civil War.
I have lots more I could say, but I will stop with this, before my mouth runs away with me.
