Do you have evidence that anyone thought the Federal government being out of control during the antebellum era? The only people I can imagine thatyou might have in mind were abolitionists like William Lloyd Garrison and John Brown, who determined to overthrow the U.S. government. Are you suggesting that their views were commonplace?
