Re: History as testimony

That's what I was saying Alan. In the end, it's how the individual told his story or how his family passed down his story. tomayto/tomahato thing.
A couple of weeks ago, again, I was a Proctor for FCATS. Each class must have one with each teacher. They must (with a few exceptions) be employed by the school district. Some proctors are other employee's such as the records clerk, assistant librarian and so forth. We are NOT paid for this time though those who would have been at work anyway such as the records clerk were paid their salary as usual. They added a new twist this year. Before, as a Proctor, I was to pick up the test bundles and carry them to the classroom. There's a whole list of no-no's on that too. Can't walk by a copier when doing so, stop at a restroom and stuff. This year, only an "employee" who was drawing pay for that day could pick up the bundles and return them. So, I was qualified, certified and able to do some of it, (including seeing the test booklets and going over them for errors though we cannot read the questions) but because I was not drawing pay, I was not qualified to walk down the hall with them. Confusing or just plain over the top ruling from above? Most of us thought the latter.
At the end of the day, we regular subs who were also Proctor's felt like we were employee's of the district even though the new rule seems to think we were not. Maybe 'Pay' is where the real difference is.
