Re: Some ideas for visiting the Archives in DC

Upon visiting the Georgia Archives I was able to find out how the original records of Phillips Legion as an example ended up at the National Archives. It had been my understanding the records were loaned to the National Archives by the state of Georgia for the purpose of General Ainsworth and his staff to make Confederate CMSR's. The records were captured during the war in Georgia and never returned to the state.

Although many Confederate battle flags were returned in the early 20th century many of the original Confederate records were never returned.
