I hope, whenever they get around to analyzing and publishing their finds, that they use people who know something about WBTS-period firearms and ammunition, as well as artifacts of period military material culture. We had a lot of problems with the professional archaeologists who initially worked with the metal detector surveys of the Mill Springs (KY) battlefield years ago. They were school-trained PhD archaeologists who knew a lot about Amerindians, but they didn't know an M1816 musket from a pitchfork, or a Sharps bullet from a button.
