"35. Pvt. Frederick Earl Derrick, Company I, SC 15th Infantry Regiment. Wounded in action at Gettysburg in July 1863. Captured and admitted to Letterman General Hospital, Gettysburg, died of wounds (amputated thigh) in August 1863. May have been reinterred at Magnolia Cemetery, Charleston, SC in 1871."

Frederick is at rest in Magnolia Cemetery. His marker has been photographed as well.
