You could be right, but proving it is another matter. I am wading through M935, Inspection Reports and Related Records Received by the Inspection Branch in the Confederate Adjutant and Inspector General's Office. At some point in the microfilm there's bound to be an inspection of Columbus, Ga., and all men, civilian and otherwise, employed by the Confederate government in that post will be listed.

That will give you a name, date and place, but it sounds as if you've already got that info.
