I would check out the Lexington County Library. According to their site, they have a SC Room for history and genealogy. The SC Room in the Charleston County Library has all of the Civil War military records from the National Archives for South Carolinians on microfilm. Lexington County may have the same information.

The SC Department of Archives and History also has a website where you can enter a last name for SC Confederate service pensions. (And other scanned in documents). I concur with Fred, the staff there is very helpful.
