What are the surnames you are searching? The Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society in Edgefield has an excellent genealogical library -- probably the most extensive in the Midlands -- and it is reasonably close to you. Located on Court Square, and open Monday-Friday 10-4, with a full time staffer who can help you. It may be a little slim on some of the Lexington names, but a lot of people from Lexington come in on a regular basis. The other genealogical library nearby is the Dutch Fork Genealogical Society in Little Mountain; they have a library, but I do not know how extensive their collection is, nor what are the hours. It is not open as frequently as the library in Edgefield.
