Thomas family from Spartanburg

Hi folks,
I’m researching a Thomas line from Spartanburg County, Woodruff and Walnut Grove communities. The following are children of Thomas (Tommy) Thomas and Cassandra Floyd Thomas. I am looking for additional Civil War details for these people. I’d be grateful for any information. Any photographs, diaries, letters out there?

1. Samuel Thomas, b. 10 Dec 1823; d. 7 May 1886; no military info.

2. John Franklin Thomas, b. 1824; d. 12 Sept 1863. Pvt. 9th Reg, SC Reserves, Co I; pvt. 1st Bat. SC Sharpshooters, Co C. Cause of death unknown.

3. Elihu (aka Elisha) Thomas, b. 20 Nov 1826; d. 2 Dec 1891. Pvt. 9th Reg, SC Reserves, Co I; pvt. 1st Bat. SC Sharpshooters, Co C; pvt. 27th SC Vol, Co. G. Captured at Weldon RR 21 Aug. 1864 & taken to Point Lookout. When as he released? How did he get home?

4. Eliphus Thomas, b. 20 Nov 1826; d. 11 Aug 1863. Pvt. 9th Reg, SC Reserves, Co I; pvt. 1st Bat. SC Sharpshooters, Co C. Died at Georgetown SC, cause unknown.

Elihu and Eliphus were twins, unknown if fraternal or identical.

5. Enoch Thomas, b.10 Dec 1828; d. 2 Aug 1862. Pvt. 1st Reg. SC Inf. (Hagood's) 2nd Co H. Apparently, died at home of illness, having been furloughed from duty at James Island.

6. Sarah Thomas, b. 1830. Married James E. Mason, b. 1830, sgt. 5th Reg SC Vol, Co I; sgt. Holcombe Legion, Co A.

7. David Thomas, b. 1834; d. 28 Oct 1863. Pvt. 1st Reg. SC Inf. (Hagood's) 2nd Co H. KIA Lookout Mountain (Wauhatchie). Enoch and David enlisted at Spartanburg March 29, 1862, as E. and D. Thomas. That same day a James C. Skinner enlisted too; I suspect he is an in-law to the Thomas’ as both Samuel and Eliphus married Skinner women.

8. Nelly Amantha Thomas, b. 1836. Married Pickney Isaac Shackleford, pvt. 18th Reg SC Vol, Co E.

9. Simpson Thomas, b. 1839; d 1865. Pvt. Holcombe Legion, Co A. KIA Hatchers Run.

10. Cassie Thomas, b. 1840; d. 12 Sept 1884. Apparently never married.

11. George M. Thomas, b 1842; d. 27 Oct 1864. Pvt. Holcombe Legion, Co A. KIA at Petersburg “leading a charge.” Does anyone know what charge this was? Is it described in Johnson Hagood’s book?

12. Mary Malissa Thomas, b. 25 Nov 1847; d. 5 May 1907. After the war married John Robert Smith, CSA veteran, b. 16 Feb 1845, d. 21 Feb 1915; son of Sanford and Mallisa Gentry Smith. What unit was he in?

Thanks for any help. I live in CA and am not able to travel to SC to do research. Am a descendant of Elihu.
