Hi Ian,
With regard to this topic the only refernce I recollect was from Battles and Leaders where, whilst discussing the tragic death of Micah Jenkins from friendly fire in 1864 it mentioned that the regiment had recently been issued new shell jackets where the grey was so dark that it almost resembled a charcole colour. ( This, along with the fact that another officer in Longstreets party was carrying stars & stripes banner that he had siezed as a trophy may go some way to explaining why a confederate infantry unit opened gfire on them).
Any help.??
( Regards to the lads Ian)
