Estill's Company was apparently organized about April 16, 1862 [for the standard term of 12 months]. On 11 July 1863 he signed a document as Captain of the Arsenal Guard. In 1863 Captain A.D. Estill was Assistant Superintendent of the State Gunboat Construction at Charleston where the Gunboat Chichora was built. On 29 Dec 1863 he was shown as Paymaster's Clerk, CS Navy.
