Mister Kirby,

Lieutenant Colonel James F. Pressley who commanded the 10th South Carolia Infantry at Murfreesboro wrote the following in his official report about Captain Nettles:

"The attention of the Commanding is called to the conduct of Captain R. Nettles Co H, who acted with great coolness and bravery, but I have the pain to report that he received three severe wounds which it is feared may prove fatal."
