Hello Joe, Thank you for your message. I hope your services will be well attended. I am the President of Company A, 50th Tennessee Infantry reenactment unit and we do alot with Fort Donelson since we are mainly out of Clarksville, TN. Yes the men of Company B did fight at Fort Donelson and many were captured at the surrender and sent to three different POW camps. Upon their release the 50th was re-organized on Sept 20, 1862, at Jackson, Mississippi. The men of Co.B had elected a new Captain,George W. Pease, from Pennsylvania. From letters, they mostly were busy with the re-organization and getting new uniforms and weapons. They also had a large "beef Barbecue". On October 8th, 1862, the regiment was sent by rail cars to Corinth, Miss. to reinforce Gen. Van Dorn only to find Gen. Van Dorn's forces falling back and went with that Army to Grenada, Miss. They had many minor skirmishes along the way. On Dec. 24, 1862, President Davis and Gen. Joseph Johnston reviewed the troops and the next day, Christmas, they were ordered to Vicksburg, MS. Here they fought they Union forces under Gen. Sherman on Dec. 28, and drove them back to their gunboats. On Jan. 5, 1863 the men were ordered to Port Hudson, LA.
