My great-grandfather and two of his brothers served in Company G of the 63rd. Another brother was in the 39th TN Infantry Regiment and fought at Vicksburg. My great-grandfather, Robert Hinton Alexander, was 21 at the time. His two older brothers: William S. Alexander was 27 and brother John S. was 24. All three were severely wounded on the 20th during the Snodgrass Hill fight. John died on the battlefield, William and Robert were hospitalized, but William died the following November in a Newman GA Hospital. Only Robert survived to return home to Loudon Co TN. I do have some military records. No photos of William or John, but I do have photo of Robert and of his large family. I also have photos of brother James who was captured and paroled at Vicksburg---none of these are of them in uniform, but rather taken much later in life. Will share what info I have with others and obviously would like to know more about COMPANY G specifically.
