Is there something specific you want to know about the Third Kentucky? They, like the other regiments of the First Kentucky Brigade (a.k.a. the Orphan Brigade) became mounted infantry in 1864, but served as regular infantry prior to that. The Third Kentucky was separated from the rest of the Orphans in the fall of 1862 and reunited with them in Georgia in 1864.
I don't think the Third Kentucky was assigned to Forrest, but I can check that.
